A Good Reason to Head for Burger King
|
Tired of all those vegetarians trying to ram their diet down your throat and getting on your case about your love for meat?
How many times have you wanted to scream at the top of your lungs when they gave their tiresome lectures about the virtues of their lifestyle, while making you feel like a flesh-eating putz for chowing down on a good piece of prime rib?
Well, cheer up!
You may, at last, have found validation for your meat-loving ways from none other than the scientific community.
Researchers at Oxford University are now saying that all of those salad-munching, sprout-snacking, lettuce-chewing vegans and vegetarians are at high risk of brain shrinkage, due to their diet. They are deficient in vitamin B-12, something that is found in...yes, I said, it!...MEAT. Not getting this important vitamin contributes to inflamed nerves and anemia and, over time, could reduce the size of that nice, gray matter in between their ears.
So, next time one of your vegetarian pals maligns your eating choices, let them know about this information and invite them to join you in the pleasures of a nice, juicy hamburger.

A Blast from the Past
|
How many people hold the secret desire to go back to their past and do all the stuff they never got to do when they were younger?
A pipe dream, you say?
Not to one 33-year-old woman.
The angst-ridden mom, who moved from Nevada, decided to enroll at Green Bay, Wisconsin's Ashwaubenon High School under the name of her daughter, who is 15-years-old and still living back in the "Silver State." The youthful matriarch registered for high school, with the aim of getting her high school degree and fulfilling her desire to belong to the popular crowd, by becoming a cheerleader.
Amazingly, nobody suspected anything was amiss, until a check the woman wrote for her cheerleading uniform bounced like a rubber ball.
When school authorities got suspicious and did an investigation, they discovered that the new "student" was a phony with a less than stellar past. It appears that "Mommy Dearest" has been charged with identity theft before and was such a crummy mother that her own mom had to take custody of her teen.
A criminal complaint was made and she could now end up in the"Big House" for six years.

Whatchoo Talkin' 'Bout, Willis?
|
Diminutive former child star Gary Coleman is in trouble again. It's hard to believe that the cute, fat-cheeked little tyke that made us guffaw with his streetwise antics on the sugary "Diff'rent Strokes" sitcom seems to have fallen so far
Life has not been particularly happy for Coleman since he left the show. While he has appeared in a few t.v. movies, done small guest roles on sitcoms and been a participant on a reality television show, grownup success has eluded him. His chief aim to fame, recently, has been publicity over his various legal problems.
First, he wrangled over earnings he alleged his parents plowed through, leaving him with virtually nothing. Then he got charged with assault for punching a woman who joked him about his sagging career. In 2007, he got a citation for disorderly conduct for publicly arguing with the woman who became his wife, whom he later divorced.
So, what has the 40-year-old done lately?
While backing out of a bowling alley in his truck, he hit a car and a pedestrian he was allegedly peeved at for trying to photograph him.
Despite suspicions others may have, Coleman claims it was just an "accident".

What Happens In Vegas...
|
You'd think there's enough things to do in Las Vegas to occupy one's
time, but, apparently, two female residents of "Sin City" thought otherwise. Perhaps that's why they decided that it was a good day to....kidnap a first grader.
According to cops, a woman spotted the wee lad walking from the school, picked him up, took him to Wal-Mart and then to a pal's home, where the two of them called the media to set up a conference at a public place, where their plan was to turn over the kid.
The dippy duo couldn't seem to fathom why folks were peeved or why they were arrested. According to these two ladies, their actions were well-intentioned. Their aim, supposedly, was to prove that the security at the elementary school where the boy was picked up was lax, since he was allowed to leave the school, unsupervised.
Picking up this child was a bone-headed way to get the point across. Why didn't the woman take his hand and walk him BACK into the school building and describe how she saw him walking home alone?
Justifiably, both butt-headed women were charged with first degree kidnapping and their victim returned to his worried family.

Discrimination or Not?
|
If you plan on working in a government job in the state of Alabama, you better plan on signing up for Jenny Craig, if you are one of the corpulent,or else it could cost you.
Apparently, the folks in charge are mighty peeved about having the reputation of being the state with the second largest number of fat people. Since obesity is blamed for many illnesses, the state figures that their overweight employees are the cause of them having to pay so much for health insurance.
Those who continue in their fat and feisty ways will be forced to pay an additional $25 per month for health insurance. To avoid this, overweight workers have to agree to get weigh-ins and health readings on the job.
Evidently, the powers that be in Alabama seem to believe that a little public humiliation is all it will take to get their more hefty employees signing up for the gym and eating salads, but not everyone is particularly happy with their extreme approach.
The state is also charging unrepentant smokers extra moolah for health insurance, too, so, if you're a fat person who chain smokes, maybe you better move elsewhere to get a job.

Bad Boys Finish First
|
What do you get when you admit to the entire world that you cheated on your cancer-ridden wife and rumors abound that you are your mistress's "baby daddy?"
Apparently, a big ole pay hike. At least, if you are Senator John Edwards.
Only a few weeks back,the North Carolina politician and former Presidential candidate announced to the world that he had been tipping on wife Elizabeth. Although he claimed the affair with his female "videotographer" was brief, many doubt this. The infamous National Enquirer even snapped pics of him going to visit his mistress in a swanky California hotel, even though Edwards swears it was a totally innocent meeting.
You would this whole sordid mess would cause him to keep a low profile for awhile, right?
Wrong!
Edwards still plans to go on the speaking circuit and has allegedly even hiked his fee for his efforts. He will supposedly be paid $65,000 for his appearance at an Illinois college. Obviously there are still folks willing to pay through the nose to hear the ramblings of a guy with a skanky reputation.
Hey, maybe if Edwards commits a murder, he can bring his price up to a cool $100,000!

Telemarketers Gone Wild
|
There are few things as annoying as having your 'phone ringing off the hook, only to pick up the receiver and realize that there is a telemarketer on the other end. She or he wants you to take a survey or wants to interest you in some useless product or wants to tell you that you have a chance of winning some stupid, fake lottery or something else to waste your time. Most of us either cut them off before they can launch into their sales pitch or simply hang up on them.
When one Austin, Texas man recently did the latter, he was surprised when the ticked off telemarketer he hung up on actually called him back to give him a piece of her mind. She allegedly accused him of being a "wimp" and uttered a few other unpleasant random thoughts.
The stunned gent tried to report the avenging telemarketer to her supervisors, but has not received much help, since they pretty much attributed her tirade to "frustration.". The guy plans to pursue the matter further and the FTC may even have to step in.
Wanna know the best way to avoid incidents like this?

Trouble in Paradise
|
Have you always suspected that the"chummy" vibe between news co-anchors was just way too good to be true?
You may be right. At least, that's the way it turned out in one recent situation.
A male news anchor for a Philadelphia news station was bounced from his job, when it was discovered that he had secretly been derailing his female co-anchor's career.
How?
The crafty dude hacked into her computer, snooping on his colleague's personal emails 537 times, to be exact, and leaking out juicy tidbits to tabloids, including her arrest for allegedly punching out a cop. Not only did it cause embarrassment to the lady anchor, but it may have led to her dismissal from her job.
What inspired this viciousness?
As usual, money and sex. According to the male anchor, his co-anchor had an inappropriate relationship with him, something she denies. Probably the biggest reason for his dastardly actions was that he found that she was making $80.000 more than he was.
Once his deeds were discovered, he was fired and arrested by the Feds.
He is unlikely to get any time, but his career is pretty much toast.

Another Myth Bites the Dust
|
Just days ago, the world waited to see if, at last, a "missing link" had been discovered by two Georgia hunters. Matthew Whitton and Rick Dyer declared that they had not only seen a Bigfoot, but had his rotting carcass as solid proof.
What excitement must have rung through the hearts of archaeologists and scientists everywhere!
The two men swore that they had come upon the deceased beast in the north Georgia woods and put the remains into a freezer. Photos were taken of the Sasquatch to show to the media. While some people were eager to believe that this was indeed confirmation of the existence of the legendary creature, others remained skeptical.
The head of a Bigfoot search company was still convinced that their story was true and he allegedly gave them a sizable advance to take possession of the dead critter. By the time he and the rest of the world figured out that the Bigfoot "body" was a costume, the two fellers disappeared.
Now, they're back, claiming that it was all a "joke" that got out of hand. Whitton, a cop, lost his job and he and Dyer and getting sued by Biscardi.

A True Gender Bender
|
Everybody's mind has been on the Olympics lately. For one former European athlete, it brings back unpleasant memories.
Heidi Krieger was a consistent winner in the 1980's, for what was then East Germany. She was a women's shot put champion, who gained world recognition.
It seems that those accomplishments may have been aided superficially. According to Krieger, her coaches at the time told her that the pills they were shoving down her gullet were "vitamins", but what they were giving her was something quite different. Heidi was allegedly one of 10,000 East German athletes who were given steroids, without their knowledge. While they provided "extra juice" to beat their competitors, the other results were less positive.
According to Krieger, steroids "changed" her, as she began to turn more masculine, both physically and emotionally. She started looking and feeling more like a male, eventually going on to have a sex change operation in 1997, becoming Andreas Krieger.
Although Andreas has adjusted to his new life, he still feels betrayed by his coaches, who literally turned his world completely upside down.
This should be a cautionary lesson for all of the female athletes who currently pop steroids to give them an edge. |

Rethink That Snack Attack
|
Next time you get the urge to go chow down at a fast food restaurant in Xenia, Ohio, you may want to reconsider satisfying your craving at one particular Burger King in the area.
Health officials were horrified recently, after being alerted about a video being shown on the popular You Tube site. Their angst was caused by a featured video that revealed a teen immersed naked in a utility sink at the joint. The lad was supposedly "celebrating" his birthday by pouring "sanitary solution" over himself as he sat in the same sink used to clean utensils that were possibly being used to flip that nice, juicy burger you gulped down.
To make matters worse, the whole incident was practically done under the manager's nose, but she did zilch to stop it, obviously not too bothered about the fact that her customers were being put at risk by being exposed to bacteria from the teen's crusty, unhygienic bod and that It was being taped.
Once it was aired on You Tube and got media attention, however, the city health department got involved.
Burger King declares that everything has now been sanitized, but I'm guessing customers aren't stopping by as much. |

Rah-Rah, Sis-Boom-Bah!
|
Apparently, you just can't keep a bad girl down.
Remember the infamous video that was on You Tube a few months ago, in which a group of teenage cheerleaders from Florida brutally beat up another girl? They seemed to enjoy the notoriety for awhile, but, thankfully, their story had faded out of the headlines, as such stories eventually do.
You'd think that the girls involved would want to be as low-key as possible now and go back to whatever semblance of "normalcy" they could.
Not so, at least with one of the girls.
One of the terrifying teens is in hot water again. The 17-year-old is evidently modeling herself after the "Alex Forrest"character in "Fatal Attraction", because despite a restraining order, she allegedly stalked her former boyfriend both offline and online and eventually ended up stabbing the dude with a pen.
Cops arrested the teen hellraiser and charged her with assault, battery and stalking, adding to the huge trouble she is already in for her participation in the activities shown in the You Tube video. Whatever life lessons she was supposed to learn obviously did not take.
Oh well, perhaps, she can go on to form a prison cheerleader squad!

Imbeciles Are Never in Short Supply
|
If adulthood status was only allowed to those with the sense to handle it, a lot of people would be out of luck.
Take the recent case of a 54-year-old Florida woman whose actions seem to indicate that she is minus several million brain cells. According to reports, she was observed wheeling around a Publix supermarket parking lot in her Lexus.
Nothing unusual, except for the fact that she had a 3-year-old kid on the roof of her vehicle at the time.
Folks who saw the whole thing were, understandably, appalled enough to grab their cell phones and call the sheriff. The authorities got there as quickly as they could and put the woman under arrest.
Believe it or not, she was actually surprised that the cops nabbed her, claiming that her reasons for putting the tiny tot atop her automobile were for the purposes of letting the little darling get some fresh air and have some enjoyable recreation.
The woman seemed oblivious to the fact that she put the child at risk of being injured.
The woman has been charged with child abuse and, if sheer stupidity was a criminal offense, she ought to be serving a life sentence. |

Old Comedians Never Die...
|
Geriatric comedians in the news again! There is apparently something in the air lately making these old boogers go off the deep end.
This time it is veteran funny lady Joan Rivers.
Anybody who expects an older Rivers to be a "gentler, kinder" version of her young self is going to be sadly disappointed. The comedienne, best known for her salty jokes and addiction to plastic surgery, recently raised eyebrows at a public event.
She allegedly made questionable remarks during her appearance at a Florida Women of Distinction fund-raiser, being held to benefit the Girl Scouts. Stunned observers declare that Ms. Joan distinguished herself by launching into some raunchy, "f-word" laced jokes that included referring to the female gender as "whores" and making other amazingly profane remarks that were ill-suited for the occasion at hand.
While I am certainly not defending Rivers' bad choice of words at this event, you have to wonder what else those in charge of this affair were anticipating? Joan Rivers has never been known for being either classy or demure. Tackines is this woman's trademark and the reason her fans love her.
If they wanted a G-rated performer, maybe they should have asked Miley Cyrus. |
