People love their pets, but some folks go overboard.
A good example of this is the recent story about a woman's pet chimpanzee who nearly killed her friend.
Travis the chimp had been raised by owner Sandra Herold as though he were a human being. She allowed him to eat at the table with her, served him wine, took him on car rides, bathed with him and treated him like her soulmate. She even let him sleep in the same bed with her.
Herold obviously didn't bargain on the fact that Travis still had, within him, the nature of a wild beast, which surfaced with tragic consequences.
When a friend of Herold's came to visit, the woman inadvertently agitated the creature by arriving with a new haircut and waving a toy animal in his face.,
He attacked her and the cops had to end up shooting him.
I don't think most people would blame the chimp, as much as they would his owner, for raising him, without any realistic acknowledgment of his natural tendencies. To bring this wild animal up, as though he were a human, was totally irresponsible on her part and now both he and her friend have paid a terrible price.
