Some parents have trouble taking care of one kid, but imagine being suddenly confronted with having to care for and raise eight kids!
A California woman made headlines recently when she gave birth to octuplets, an extremely rare event, since all survived and are, thus far, fairly healthy.
Reports are that she was given fertility treatments, which obviously kicked in bigtim,e and she was, at first, projected to be pregnant with 7 babies. The Whittier woman refused her doctor's recommendation of reducing the number of fetuses to remove risk to her life. Still, everyone was pleased and surprised when, during the delivery process, an additional baby came out.
Hooray, right?
This might have been one of those "feel-good" stories of the year had not additional information been discovered that probably means that the young mom is not likely to be asked to pose for a Good Housekeeping Magazine cover anytime soon.
It seems that she has...uh... a few other kids.
SIX OF 'EM!
Giving birth is a beautiful thing, but you have to wonder why somebody who already had 6 children that she needed her parent's help to care for would have fertility treatments to have 8 more she can't take care of.
