What do you get when you admit to the entire world that you cheated on your cancer-ridden wife and rumors abound that you are your mistress's "baby daddy?"
Apparently, a big ole pay hike. At least, if you are Senator John Edwards.
Only a few weeks back,the North Carolina politician and former Presidential candidate announced to the world that he had been tipping on wife Elizabeth. Although he claimed the affair with his female "videotographer" was brief, many doubt this. The infamous National Enquirer even snapped pics of him going to visit his mistress in a swanky California hotel, even though Edwards swears it was a totally innocent meeting.
You would this whole sordid mess would cause him to keep a low profile for awhile, right?
Wrong!
Edwards still plans to go on the speaking circuit and has allegedly even hiked his fee for his efforts. He will supposedly be paid $65,000 for his appearance at an Illinois college. Obviously there are still folks willing to pay through the nose to hear the ramblings of a guy with a skanky reputation.
Hey, maybe if Edwards commits a murder, he can bring his price up to a cool $100,000!
